A Melbourne man has suffered serious injuries to his face and arms after a dog attacked him in the city's northern suburbs.
The 53-year-old man was walking his own Jack Russell cross dog in the suburb of Glenroy when his dog was set upon by a Labrador around 10am (AEST).
Paramedic Dan Jeffery said the man was injured while trying to protect his own dog.
"The man bent down and put his arm out to try to separate the dogs. As a result he suffered quite a deep bite mark to his arm and a cut to his nose," Mr Jeffery said.
A technician working in the witnessed the attack and came to the victim's aid.
He was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital with severe lacerations to his arm and nose.
