Pitties Being Dumped In Fear Of New Laws

Owners dump dangerous dogs to avoid penalties | Herald Sun

Just goes to show the type of owners these dogs attract, and why they need to go.

I agree Robert.. It's just a damn pity it's the dogs that are made out to be the evil doers here.. and not the owners! I guess if we can't control who owns them..what other choice is there? Governments wil lnot bring in a licensing system.. So the dogs must suffer!

Love the totally unbiased picture. How unlike the media to take an unrelated picture from a foreign country to use to talk up their story.Well I never.
At least there were a few talking some sense in the article.I notice the RSPCA have changed their tune becuase over time the campaign against them for supproting bsl has hurt them financially when the general public have been educated to the fact it doesnt work and as they said the statistics do not support it.Same as dog fatalities no supporting evidence becuase it isnt there.
What they are going to put in place just strengthens what is already there and is what is already in place in my state.I didnt realise Victoria wasnt already the same.We already have crossbreeds of the 5 in the legislation as well as any dogs that visibly resemble them which I always thought was a crock of shit but it doesnt matter anyway becuase they do zero to police it here but then again we dont have as big a problem as other states and never did in respect to those dogs.In effect nothing will change they just added an ammendment and wull reitterate to councils their responsibility. What a joke.If you dont put any resources into policing it then it wont happen. They may have had a few dogs handed in or rounded up by those that shouldnt have had them anyway buit that is not even the tip of the iceberg.
Another chld will die and still nothing will be done across the board to prevent it and when it does what bred will they pick to ban then?

    I will say it again
The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome.

Shane, they will restrict/ban the next popular target, hmm what's the next in line in terms of "killer" image??...Rottweiler crosses comes to mind..

The government works in a ludicrous way, you can rape/kill your kids, plead temporary insanity and a few months down the track get access visits but if you own a dog similar to one that bites/kills a child, the DOG is killed.....

I'll be honest, i don't like certain breeds being owned by the general public, i do believe certain breeds are not safe with the main population....It does boil down to owner capability, knowledge, etc but also some dogs DO NOT MAKE GOOD PETS!

I agree there are many breeds that dont suit a suburban stting. What do we do then?Ban them all?I was in favor of restrictions on pitbulls and the other breeds didnt really have a big problem with it but banning anything doesnt make the problem go away and in some cases only makes it worse.I beleive there are other breeds that should also be restricted but I wouldnt state names here as it serves no purpose for me.Use the laws that are in place put enough resources in to police them effectively and weed out the problem. The problem in this country is we have a mnetality of she will be alright jack until its to late and the horse has bolted then politicians go all 9/11 on us and over the top.I would jus like to see common sense prevail for once and a solution that goes at least half way to solving some of the problem and honestly it isnt that hard.
I hope you havent left the forum.People always see things differently depending on where they sit and different opinions are what makes the world go round.Peace.
