LAKE FOREST, Calif.—A Lake Forest woman has wounded a neighborhood dog with a pistol after it repeatedly bit her 6-year-old daughter on her face and body.
Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino says the girl was playing with her younger sister in the family's driveway on Wednesday when the dog attacked.

Amormino says the mother, who was on the porch, shot the brown-and-white boxer with a Glock pistol after it lunged at her youngest child when she tried to scare it away.

The girl was treated at the scene by paramedics.

The dog was taken to a veterinarian for its wounds.

The dog does not have an ID tag and authorities are trying to identify its owner.

I was a bit disturbed by a lot of facts in this story.

When it comes to the dog shoot the thing dead. I would any dog that attaced my child.

As to the mother shooting the dog while it is attacking her daughter what if she aimed a little lower and got her child?

She must have had time to go and get the gun. Unless she was sitting there on the porch with it.

One would think that a broom or a bat would have been closer and more readily available.

i think this story brings up a lot of questions.

PS. The little girl is the only victim here not the dog.

I agree Adam, Poor little girl, but it is strange though that a gun was so easily available hey? She got a lucky aim, thats a massive risk and i don't care what training people say they've had handling guns, that bullet could have got the child as you said..

    Cheers

This is the US though, look at the weapon mom used. Glock pistol !!!

People react in different way under pressure, sometimes not logically at all. You do not know how you would react until you are under that type of pressure.

Still end result the girl is in a world of pain and the mother was put into a stupid position because of someone else’s mismanagement.
