Poor girl. Good the judge is looking at how the dog was house. Not sure if I agree with the rest of the case building though.
A coroner has told a court he is not interested in the breed of the dog that attacked a West Gippsland toddler four years ago.
Twenty-two-month-old Kara Compton had horrific injuries when she was found by her father.
She had been mauled by the family dog, a dingo-labrador cross, at their home in Bunyip in February 2006.
She was taken to Dandenong Hospital in a critical condition, but died several hours later.
The dog was destroyed.
Coroner John Olle told the hearing that he may look at how the dog was housed, but he is not interested in the breed of the dog.
He said he is also not interested in trying to blame the parents.
The coronial inquest has been set down for five days, beginning at the end of August.

Glad that he does not care about the breed of dog, but if how it was housed is relevant , then who would have been in charge of housing (not the parents ?) . It is very sad , but people should be made aware there is a responsibilty in owning ANY dog.
Very tragic, poor little girl.
Great to see a type of dog not blamed. Naturally both supervision and treatment of the dog MAY be factors regardless of whether they hold the parents/carers responsible.
