UK needs better dog owners, not breed bans

Some high-profile organisations have recently spoken out against blaming breeds of dog for aggressive behaviour - opting instead to target unethical owners.

The new president of the British Veterinary Association Bill Reilly recently highlighted the injustice of legislation targeting types of canine in Northern Ireland.

Mr Reilly went on to urge the government to shift focus to "deed, not breed" to tackle the problem.

K9 Media has heeded this call and is launching a new campaign in November aimed at promoting responsible dog ownership instead of bans.

The organisation will do this by providing free training and education resources to all owners.

Editor of the publication Ryan O'Meara expressed hope measures such as these would usher in the end of breed-specific legislation.

He said Britain would not have the right to condemn other countries on animal welfare issues while "our own government is routinely executing dogs because of no other reason than what they happen to look like".

This is the opinion shared by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - which had said there are no naturally vicious dogs, just unethical owners.

Whatever happened to OUR RSPCA being there "For ALL animals great and small"?

Ours believes in canine genocide... Hugh Wirthless needs to LEAVE the RSPCA before it can show any common sense, and be a truly [B]humane and caring/B] organisation
