Here is some more Special dog training from the crazy russians. Not something I would recomend training to target the head but I guess thats why they are the SWAT.

Interesting clip....only the second time I have seen the head sleeve in use.

I do wonder how effective this would be in live use though, it would certainly stun a target however the grip demonstrated here wouldn't be achievable without the equipment worn. The dog in clip is biting almost square and crushing the cushion to hold on.
Given the face is almost flat and reasonably firm, I could see a dog biting in this region yet slipping away, leaving the animal open to attack from the aggressor.
Only my opinion but I think that keeping things simple would reduce the risk of error....something I imagine would be critical to these guys.

Interesting - looks very dangerous! If they did latch on, wouldn't they likely kill the person?

Of course the music is Rammstein

Id have to agree with you Cameron and dont know why they are doing it but I guess they have their reason and is only one part of the dogs training.Doesnt look like it would be that hard to fend the dog off with the arms or grab it by the collar. If the guy had a weapon it could end badly for the dog but I wouldnt like to try my luck.
Kavik I would like to say I cant imagine what would happen if the dog stuck to the target but I can as I was sent an email that originated in that part of the world with just that scenario and it was very messy.Dog was injured but not fatally and the would be intruder was deceased but unrecognisable.

I used to go on another board where a guy used to post ocasionally and talk about some of the training techniques they employed and one was face targeting.I asked him a few times where he was from and he never did answer but I had a strong feeling from the way he spoke it was Eastern Europe and some of the things he said would probably disturb most people but it is a different world over there.

    Aim small, miss small.

I wasn’t overly impressed with the videos, I would like to see the dog run through a few more scenarios to see how it would cope with constantly missing the face of the decoy and have the decoy add more pressure. I could only get the first 2 videos to load.

I do not see the point of having a dog trained to only bite a particular part of the body, Murphy’s law will catch up with you eventually. Having a dog that is unable to redirect on to another body part when it misses/loses grip is not going to do you any favors on the street.

I would like to see how this dog would go targeting the head with the decoy running away.

I am not sure on what level of training the dog has had with this style of bite work but I am guessing it is in the early stages seeing as the dog lost interest with the decoy when it was slipped the mask.

Yeah.I thought the dog was alright but a bit short and carrying a bit too much wieght to be targeting that high from the get go.Would have like to see him target elsewhere but i guess its easy to assume from a small peice of footage.Like you said Jeff probably early on in the training and I also noticed the lack of interest after the mask was slipped.
