    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TwHQbvyx5c"]YouTube - Police dog tackles down criminal[/ame]

    I have watch this video a few times and the more I watch it the more I think its a set up watch how the guy runs, left arm still right arm in running style and he is holing his arm out like he is waiting for the bite. I also think you may be able to see a sleeve underneath his jacket.??????????????????????????????????

    I see no problem with the officer assisting with the arrest, most police departments undertake in specialized training with police dog handlers training and deploying dogs on offenders whilst other officers are attempting to make an arrest. The NSW Police force does this with members of the Public Order and Riot Squad participating in many training scenarios with dog squad officers.

    Yes but if you listen to the vid they are portraying it as a real arrest on some tv show thats a bit rich when its clearly a set up senario

    I see no problem with this. I recently was attack at my home while my dog was loose playing ball, dog went into action and took the grub down all the time I was wrestling with him. Your dog sould know the difference between you and the baddie, this should all be sorted in your training.

    The almost lost of offensive handling involves using the dog as a force multiplier and also an apprehension/prevention tool.
    You will see a lot of suit work, even some video on this site, where the dog does his thing to the handler.
    What does the dog do when it is compressed between the handler and the bad guy and punches are flying?
    Sport emphasises the ability of the dog, and probably rightly so.
    Working a dog AS A TEAM requires dogs to be sure in this circumstance, and I am not aware of any sport that realistically tests it.
    It is not hard to train with the right dog, but only the best trained, best born/bred, or best trained AND born dogs can generally manage it.

    I can assure you that this IS NOT a “set up”. A good friend of mine (K9 Officer/Instructor) in Florida knows the officer and his dog very well, although in different jurisdictions they are in fact good buddies and train together regularly . This is REAL.

    When you do it for real, the handler is there to SUPPORT his dog, and as Jeff J says this is trained for quite regularly in the police service.

    i understand the handler helping out and all for it they would be stupid not to

    but iam still not convinced it was the handler doing the aprahension (spl) it looks like its the last guy you see in frame befor it changes angle who was all ready going befor the handler

    but since its not the intire footage thanks to the change in angle it could well be

    Nathan the PO first in with the choke hold on the offender is the handler Delos-Santos, he is right there with his dog. Excellent depolyment.
