Straight from the Dogs Victoria website. So even dogs that had the title will now be stripped of it on paper.Schutzhund
The ANKC has issued a directive that Schutzhund titles obtained in other countries by dogs imported into Australia will not be added to the ANKC database at the time of reregistration. Schutzhund titles such as SCH & IPO previously added to the ANKC database will be removed. SCH, IPO & other similar titles are a form of attack training and the ANKC does not recognise these titles or discipline.
So who's sending a nice letter to the ANKCIt's unbelievable

What do you expect?
They basically condoned the current changes to the legislation in Victoria.
Shameful.
Yep so much for maintaining the working ability of dogs... Victoria (and soon Australia wide) should be ashamed of themselves! We will be (if not already) seen as the laughing stock of the world.. I can almost guarantee soon countries within Europe and the USA will not export working lines into Australia. We are to much of a risk at destroying the working ability of these wonderful breeds!

Hi ALL
I have to say that Stupidity is NO EXCUSE.
Ignorance is NO EXCUSE.
The ANKC is pushing the working dogs in the stone age.
Obviously these people need to get some education and knowledge before they are allowed to hold such an important position

Ridiculous and very sad
"Take this trouble for me: Make sure my shepherd dog remains a working dog, for I have struggled all my life long for that aim"
Max von Stephanitz
This is absolutely right Mark, why on earth would noted working dog breeders in Europe or elsewhere spend a lifetime breeding top working (sport or other) dogs to have Australia's so called "protectors" erase their hard work without thought to the many years of painstaking research, genetics, breeding, training, competition, etc etc.
What I'd like to know is what happens to the police, military, security, and other agencies when the supply of these imported working bloodlines dries-up, as it ultimately will?

I'm more worried people will be able to now make claims their dogs have titles. If there is nothing on paperwork to back up claims of Sch/IPO in pedigrees wait for the unscrupulus to start saying their dogs or dogs sire/dam is a titled dog. I dont think the ANKC realises that some people are very proud of the fact their dog has achieved something more then an ANKC sanctioned trial (I still cannot get over the fact doggy dancing is a title while Sch is wiped off the map GRRRRRR)
What about breeders who have invested in imported dogs? Now they cannot provide ANKC paperwork that shows they are what they claim they are with their titles. I find that a conflict of interest personally as it is, for some people, an important factor in purchase and breeding. And for them to state they simply consider it attack training I'm fuming. Just shows the incredible level of ignorance and placation to the mindless masses. I'd put money that this is simply an offshoot of the GSDC wanting their german imports allowed to be shown and not have to abide by state law and be declared dangerous - desexed, unshowable etc. It seems to be something for the select few and the rest of the country gets screwed. So people importing SV dogs who have no care about Sch titles get what they want and the working breeders suffer for it.
I dont think the ANKC really cares about police and military. If they did this BS wouldnt be happening and snowballing. The rest of the world is going to be having a really good laugh at us. This country is becoming cringeworthy.
To be honest.. I don't think the military, police or other government departments really care.
RAAF has a breeding program, and growing. Customs has a breeding program. They can also import dogs from os, they will not care about whats written on a pedigree here in Aus. I doubt working dogs will dry up for government depts. RAAF I am sure will get to the stage where they will supply national and state government depts with dogs.
What it does, is make it easier for lazy breeders not having to work their dogs. Thats what this is about. If breeders "really" care about these working breeds, they would honout the breed by protecting the working ability, instead of breeding with genetically inferior dogs that come from the litters. We are developing very genetically weak dogs in Australia, as these show breeders are streering away from breeding with high drive and genteically strong dogs.

Yes Mark they may very well have substantial breeding programs but without new bloodlines they can only push their own lines so far, and it's a matter of whether breeders overseas will want their dogs to come to this country under these very restrictive policies, I know if I bred quality working dogs in Europe these practices would preclude Australia from my customer base.

If we all stuck together and and every one removed their membership from the ANKC ,they would re think it.
We all need some sort of organising and getting groups together in each state ,and doing something like this.
If Dogs VIc or Dogs Qld had no members , they would change their mind quick smart.
But unfortunately in this country we are not organised enough , and just go with the flow.
