Not sure if I can mention this here - no doubt I will know soon enough.

I have a 15 month old male Rottweiler being returned to me this week.

He has been in his current home for just over a year, has basic training BUT his owner is one of those who doesn't allow others to touch his dog. Will have him accessed this week, he is socialized with other dogs, he is not house trained and he is not a large male.

Will be getting him out /about asap and have him handled by others, would like to see him in a working home if he is suitable but other wise will look at desexing him and placing him in a pet home.

Last time I saw this dog he had a lovely nature, (had good drive as a pup) but will know more when he is returned.

Good luck with him Lisa,am certain he will be snapped up quickly! Shame he hasn't been allowed to be touched by others though or would have been good to have him critiqued.

I doubt he - "Hamish" (now Attila) cares really though Amy, on the one "special" occasion that I was allowed to play with him he seemed happy to have the contact. The kids have been allowed to play with him - but no one else from what I understand. He allows the vet to go over him. I am taking him to see Tony - the physio man when he gets home to make sure he is right, he was adjusted before he left home so I know he was good when he left at 4 months old. Have lined up some dog savvy friends to go over him and play with him on Thursday. Will know soon enough what he is like other wise he may be suitable for security work.

Hamish is now home, I am happy to say he is still the lovely natured boy who left here at 4 months old. I see no reason why he will not fit in to a new home as easily as he has slotted back in here. This is a male Rottweiler I can easily live with.

Think I will hold on to him for a while longer. Will post a pic later - for some reason having trouble now.

Don't think he will be suitable for security - he is low aggression and medium drive so would better suit obedience, tracking or agility. Such a lovely natured boy.

Thanks for the offer Julie - if your over this way and have some spare time then I would welcome any information you have. Just came back from a 2 km walk with him and think he is missing his calling as a sniffer dog. Have a feeling he has pretty much done his own thing on walks. They must have played a lot of tug games - he loves them.

I'm free mon - wednesdays, as long as it's not hot I'm happy to come down any time you're free.
