I completely agree Alison, it is very difficult and frustrating (and not at all fun) to try to train an unsuitable dog for competition. Been there done that! I am now much more careful with my breeder and individual dog selection, and very glad that my most recent addition is an awesome sports prospect and that I am finally having some success with competing, and having a lot more fun in the process. The dog in my example was my first attempt at a competition dog, needless to say we did not make it to competition due to temperament problems (though she has plenty of drive and LOVES training, and if she were not dog aggressive would have been a competition prospect). I have learnt a lot from my dog aggro dog, though as you said the main thing I have learnt is that I do NOT want another one like her!
