Type of people that i think suit a mal

Hey im just gunna throw it out there but mals are AWESOME!!! Personally i think there the best dog out especially for someone like me being very active , have time to spend with the dog , show it affection and allowing it to be part of the family , they really are a people dog

If your looking for a dog that..............

If you want a dog that easy to train and has a desire to please YOU
That you can run with (obviously when there adults )km after km
    Have endless energy
    Always keen to work
    Always excited for life
Handler sensitive = minimal correction yet hard as nails
    Low maintience minimal grooming
    Agile as all hell
Small enought to have with you where ever you go but big enough to do the job What i mean is its NOT intimidating to the public but when you switch it on different story!!

    Than a mal is

Honestly im no expert on mals and this is my first one but ive just found this dog a joy to own and just though i would share it to the WORLD when i was researching the breed people have said things like there a pain in the ass , they dig hols , bark all the time , etc but from my limited experience my one is a winner!! she doesnt do any of that and compleiments my personality

Would be interested in your views and your neighbours views when she matures a little.

    Hey Andrew,

Glad to hear your baby is going well for you!..Hmm...yep! what he said lol

All of that a well bred Rott can do, only difference being a Rotty is so much prettier

    Cheers

I will be honest with you Andrew, IMHO a "good" GSD or Rotty is an easier animal to train, handle and live with than a Mal, but unfortunately there are not as many "good" GSD's and Rotties around in the same proportions as finding a good Mal and many that go with the Mal do so through a lack of quality in the other breeds. A good dog is a good dog regardless of breed, but especially a GSD that matches the work ethics and performance of a Mal and they are around and if fortunate enough to find them, I believe are a better more stable animal across the board from my experience. I think many people who promote the Mal as a better breed haven't experienced a good GSD or Rotty and arrive at the belief the Mal is a better breed comparing GSD's and Rotties of substandard breed quality against a Mal of higher standards within the breed which are more easily attainable.

    Cheers
    Nev

Wouldn't the fact it is far easier to find a great Mal in greater numbers than a GSD or Rotty suggest that at this point in time the Mal is a far better breed?

......So a "good" mal is not as easy to train, handle and live with?? .....and that is labeled a "good" mal?...

    Open question.....

    Cheers

I think Amy hit the nail on the head.
It also depends where you look for these shepherds and rotties.
As most people do not want to pay for a good shepherd or rottie, so they settle for a cheaper rubbish one, then run around saying you can't get a good shep. or rottie.
You get what you pay for.
For how good Malis are supposed to be ,there are alot of rubbish ones to.
Any way I have been down this path before. They all have their place.
I do not deny, that malis certainly have their place in the services, but anywhere else forget it.

Absolutley Chris. One can argue that the best Boxer in the world can run against the best Malis and GSD's, but for every one high level boxer there are thousands of Malis at the same or higher level and as such the Malinois and GSD breeds are better breeds for working jobs.

    Chris,
that may well be true, as long as one is prepared to put up with the rest of the baggage, that the mali comes with.
So it does not necessarily make it the best all rounder.
