[=Belgenbeau;17076]Nev - the written standard of the Belgian now has not altered that much from the original. I accept that show breeders often follow 'fads' or 'popular' sires and I think etreme conformation traits have developed as a result in some lines, but in my breed there are still many judges who look for the original type which is an elegant but robust dog. Sadly many of the working line Malinois are not elegent. The Belgian has always been a square breed, yet most working line dogs are much longer in body. They should have small ears (much smaller than the GSD) many working line have HUGE ears. Belgians should have have undercoat - many working lines have short smooth coats. I dont have GSD's - I have Belgians - although I do judge the GSD . I dont like the excessive Banana backed GSD's, and I must say I have seen a number of working line GSD's that I would consider awarding. I have also of late seen more and more working line Malinois that while I may not give them a Best in Group and maybe not BOB if there were competition, I would certainly would not nil award them.[/]
The large eared long body working line Malinois now you have mentioned that I have seen, from my ignorance pehaps, I believed these examples to have had GSD cross breedings in their ancestory, infact some have almost looked like GSD's with Malinois colouring, although the people involved with these examples have sworn that no GSD crossbreedings have existed, but visually, it's difficult to believe???.
Cheers
