I have experience in both sport and service dog training and think that the line is often blurred between the two. I am interested in the lesser utilised breeds in service and training such as the Airedale and Schnauzer. Welcome to the forum Jarrod, if you know any suitable breeders of the Airedale and Schnauzer please put up there details.
I have researched the breeders of both Airedales and Schnauzers here in Aus and as expected not much with a proven work background. Whilst there are a few people with some good dogs in show homes such as a German imported working line Airedale bitch in SA, it is hard to get hold of the pups without a list of restrictions such as limited papers etc and I don't know about you but if I buy a dog and put hours into it I would like to own it outright. One Airedale breeder even stated that they were not suitable for training as they were too smart (maybe she was not smart enough for the dog.) Hoping to get a few people together to get a few dogs in the country as the group has recently done with another breed. Apparently there are also some good Bouviers in NSW. Have not seen them myself but all from imported stock and apparently look promising. Was going to source one myself however the breeder had a problem with some imported semen.
