Known simply as the OFA.
This is a great website for all breeds. Heaps of data, statistics etc It is not just about orthopedics, it also has databases on other genetic disorders. It is a fantastic resource that I have often referred to over the years. Even the Mals, Dutchies and American Bulldogs are included so give it a good read guys. It is a great tool for your breeding programs to minimize genetic health issues and for people just choosing which dog to buy, what health problems they are prone to and what questions to ask breeders.
The OFA is guided by the following four specific objectives:http://www.offa.org/
- To collate and disseminate information concerning orthopedic and genetic diseases of animals.
- To advise, encourage and establish control programs to lower the incidence of orthopedic and genetic diseases.
- To encourage and finance research in orthopedic and genetic disease in animals.
- To receive funds and make grants to carry out these objectives.
