    Hi Eatz,

Good luck with the search for a suitable Stud.I'm not a Sheppy Breeder as you probably have guessed.

Fax Vom Grenzganger is a very nice dog.Hopefully Someone will come along and give you some Idea's.Me personally I would stick with your first choice.

    Hi Ena,
Good to see another Crow Eater here.
I am a believer in line breeding to consistantly produce a type. So looking at your dog she is an outcross between what people call the "old Victorian lines" and West German Working lines. If I was you I would do a little research into each of the lines and see which one you like the sound of best, then look for studs from those lines. The old Victorian stuff is very different to the West German lines, (this doesnt mean I am saying one is better, just for the record ) so look into them.
There are a few good dogs you can look at, be they DDR, Czech, German or Victorian.
If it were my female I would look at weather I liked the victorian type of the German type, then get the best stud from those lines for her.
Inbreeding will give you the best chance of keeping certain traits you may like.
    Good luck.

Re: what male would you put with this female GSD

    Hi Ena,
We have a Fax son at our club, also linebred Dolf. Dolf was where the real strength come from with Fax, thats why his best breeding were to females that also went back on Dolf. Fax was a very tough dog. I didnt see him in the flesh but saw some video of him, and I liked what I saw.
I spoke to Bernhard Flinks after he saw him and he loved the dog, but Fax was an outcross (half Czech half West) so in my opinion he needed to go back into one line, and as he was like his father thats where I would have gone.
We also had another Fax son through a Brawnson daughter at our club.
The old Victorian lines are dogs that were bred in Melbourne over about a 25 year period. They were a mix of everything from old DDR dogs, West German show dogs and also Australian Show dogs. They did over the time produce some big and tough dogs, and so alot of people value them. The blood is getting harder to find now and some people that have them dont let them out with papers. Thats where you see the kennel name Security in your papers.
Theres alot of old stories and nostalga that comes with these dogs now.
While not my cup of tea, they did do a pretty good job breeding them in those days with the limited stock and bloodlines that were available to them at the time.

There are some other good dogs out there for sure, some Czech, some West German some Old Victorian.
But sometimes the quickest way to show someone nothing is to show them everything at once.
When your next in Adelaide we have a couple of good GSD's at our club including a Fax son. Your more than welcome to come and see them.
    Cheers
    Chris

    Thank you Chris,
I think the male I have lined up might go to your club, Ace or Nordenstamm Flax.
The Fax pup I once had, (in heaven now) was a lovely dog but the breeder said they didn't make the best dogs that their offsping were better.
Being all the way up here makes it hard to take my dog down there for training. Oh and how we need it.
Her love in life is to protect and I can't allowe it because I have no backup.
Compared to the Fax pup and this one, this one is security though and through.
The Fax one was more family, well depending on who Fax was breed to.
I hope to come down there and train her in the future.
Thank you very much for your imput

    Hey there Ena,

I guess it would depend on what you want from a working dog, as most people differ. If you have read any of my other posts regarding temperament then you would understand the type of dog that I prefer.
I own Von Forell Erger, a Fax/Bali son.
I would encourage you to ask around about the dog, see what people say. I am his owner, so I won't sit here and give you a big schpiel, but those that see him work seem to have been very impressed (according to what I have been told after the fact).
If I can provide you with any info at all for your consideration please feel free to contact me.

Hi all, I have seen Erger and his brother - both are exceptional - but in my opinion Erger is the working person's choice. i have also seen Eger puppies - they are very nice.
    Cheers

    [=Ena Mantzouranis;17753]Hi everyone,thank you for your replies.
The story cut short, tried twice to breed her,he didn't have as much go in him as he should have?????
And AI on a maidan should be done a certain way, which again wasn't to be,LOL
As for Erger, a very nice dog who I might use on my Vontama F bitch yet.
Been working on other things family.
As I was looking around I found there are a couple of dogs out there I plan to breed Crystal to which I expect to give hard dogs.
When I get it sorted and it has happened,I will share it with you all
Though I still am left with, how hard of dog do I really want to breed??????
I know people here love the harder the better,I only need hard and I own better,lol[/]

    Hi Ena,
I have a black 16 month old Erger son linebred 2-4 on Fax who's coming up nicely and very pleased with him.
