That dog is not for him.
That dog is not for him.
The Instructor giving the handler instructions to Alpha roll the dog is an arsehole. That type of correction is absolutely ridiculous. The dog has no respect for the handler and obviously there has been no bonding process. I doubt very much whether the dog even knows what is being asked of him or what he’s being corrected for……..pathetic!

I should add that I have seen this clip before, and discussed it with a good mate of mine who is a Police K9 Instructor in a Florida LE Dept. and he takes the same view.
I couldn't figure out what the handler was asking the dog to do. I couldn't watch much of it as very upsetting

Lia I don't know why you find this upsetting it is a very use full way of getting some dominance issues ironed out.
If done correctly.
This was not, and that is why it continued.
I totally agree with John's comments and I would also like to add that the execution was very bad. To the point that the roll had no effect and there for it became just a struggle.

I’ve never felt the need nor the inclination to Alpha Roll or Hang a dog. If your dog doesn’t know from the get-go who is the Alpha, then as a trainer, you not the dog are the problem. Your body language and the way you communicate and train it should let the dog know who the boss is. Alpha rolling a dog is a great way to get your face ripped off and/or ruining a good dog; a pointless, defunct and archaic method which produces unreliability IMO!

The handler was upset/angry when using the 'technique' - and you shouldn't correct with anger. It was not working and the dog was clearly getting loaded. Looked like frustration/redirection to me, I'm not sure what is meant to be achieved by slamming a dog that is obviously very aroused and does not know how to control or direct its arousal

None of those people involved should be handling dogs. Poor Malinois, allowed to break into full manic mode then have some idiot try and wrestle it to the ground then try to calm it down by removing the stimulus causing all the problems in the first place.
