    Nothing new?

    http://www.dogsact.org.au/ankcnotice...Schutzhund.pdf

I have not read the entire article in feb issue of Dog news Australia, but it appears for Australians nothing has changed. Please post relevant links if this is not correct.

    Cheers
    Amy

    Edited to add,

Here is the ANKC' view of Man work, those with ANKC registered animals take note it appears no green light for anyone at all.

The Australian National Kennel Council and its Member Bodies totally and unequivocally oppose the practice of training of a dog to attack humans or any other animals, or of causing dogs to fight. We totally support any State or Federal laws that would outlaw this practice. Such practice is an offence against Member Bodies Regulations.

So whilst people may be exempt holding licenses in regard to the law it is however against ANKC COE.
It is little wonder so many turn away from such organisations, unregistered dogs may not be such a bad idea for many breeds.

I will have to go through emails I have and find a letter from the ANKC where they state that they do not oppose the sport of Sch. It will take me a while but will post it here.

    Dog News Australia
    KEEPING PEACE WITH FCI
    Embargo lifted on Schutzhund
While the ANKC fell short of giving official approval to the Australian United Sportdog Clubs (AUSC) for Schutzhund events, it has effectively removed a virtual embargo that had been placed on the activity in 1995.
In 1995 the Australian National Kennel Council (ANKC) resolved that; "ANKC will not take responsibility for the management nor control of Schutzhund in Australia. Also the ANKC will not recognise any Schutzhund titles awarded in Australia or to any dog awarded a title resident in Australia. No Member Body of the ANKC shall recognise or approve Schutzhund training activity or conduct Schutzhund Trial competition and any member taking part risks disqualification. ANKC Member Bodies consider Schutzhund training is not in the best interests of their activities."
That resolution was removed in 2008 when an application was made to the ANKC to recognise and sanction IPO (Schutzhund) events by Mr Maurice Della Costa, Vice President of the AUSC of Australia, the organisation that governs the practice in this country.
There are 5 breeds now being exhibited in Australia that come under FCI breed standards which require a Schutzhund title before they can achieve full FCI Championship status.

    Re: Nothing new?

On a serious note can anyone explain why the ANKC is only an associate member and not a full member of FCI?

Only Aust and NZ are associate members. Maybe to do with quarantine? Or we are too isolated or country founded on convicts’... We are too close to NZ?

    Re: Nothing new?

ANKC cannot take away a dogs pedigree papers because it does bitework. It doesnt agree with it but tough titties these are working dogs.

The ANKC is probably only an associate member so it doesnt have to accept the same conditions of the FCI. They can keep their own views however narrow they may be in some cases.

Clubs like the GSDCA can throw you out for doing bitework or schutzhund, but ANKC cannot take your papers. Come on ANKC members break their own COE all the time and they dont chuck them. I dont see pedigree papers as a bad thing at all, I do not like the ruling body being so bloody ignorant and closed minded! Poo poo schutzhund, an international sport, yet recognise doggy dancing as something to title in ... FFS

I believe they wish to remain semi Independent so they can control better what they want/don't want.
