    The real deal

Just wanted to have a yarn about the dogs we choose to stand behind when the "fit hits the shan".This is'nt a dig about breed or training technique this is simply whether the individual dog we have chosen has got the minerals when needed.
I can understand the need to get consistancy in a breed, but the bottom line is can it do the job.
The reason I ask is recently I herd a story of a Guard that got into strife because of this. And I'm sure there is a few of us that have been in a situation that could go bad like this.
A guard during schoolies week had the job of looking after an area on the Gold Coast.
In the carpark were 2 youths of 14 to 15 that refused to remove themselves from the area becuase "they hadn't done anything wrong and you can't make us" (we've all herd that shit before.). So the guard proceeded to get the dog out and move towards the youths, they the moved towards the dog yelling and waving their arms about, which at this point the dog folded and done the harrold holt (bolt) leaving him standing there with nothin but a silly look on his face. The boy's then proceeded to give him a touch up, luckly he had a radio and the QPS responded quickly.
    Wow what dangerous situation.
Now I'm pretty sure those youths couldn't give a rats bum about what lines your dog came from.
To me a good dog is a good dog, we can romantasize about what breed, form or style we train, but the intensity still is the reality.(with control)
Would love to hear the real story. (rumors are rumors would like the facts)

As everyone know I dont have the real deal dogs LOL

I have pathetic show dogs with no drives.

I put this video - its my bitch with me during what is called a Working Apptitute Evaluation, it is run by the Dobermann Club.

The test is a set up of stimuli, and at the end there is a decoy that comes from around the car, starts to stalk and then proceeds to attack. You cant see the stalking in the video unfortunatelly, but hopefully you can tell that its happening by the dogs body language. At the blow of a wistle the decoy runs back behind the car and the dog has to calm down.
The dogs are not under any comand during the test, they are not to heel they are on flat collar and are allowed to do what they want. Handler might encourage to go to the rattling can and the umbrella. Between the umbrella and the decoy there is metal mesh strips and long plasitc strips on the ground that the dog has to walk on top of.

I will also add that we failed this test. Apparently she didnt settle quick enough. They have 15 seconds to settle down.
You will see that after the decoy dissapers I move from the spot, I was told to do that.

Needless to say I was very dissapointed with the judges decision as I thought we nailed the test.

Now - my bitch would bite the person, I have no doubt that it wouldnt be the full mouth calm grip where she would try to get her body over the guy and try to stop him from moving. She would nip and ripp his pants/shirt.

Yet to me she provides me with a sence of security, if I was to tighten the leash and tell her "who is it" if someone comes near me she will act like a lunatic. Enough for me, she doesnt have to bring them down..

So there you go boys LOL all amunition ready and fire LOL Im wearing armour or if you wish putting the white flag up LOL

Keep it to the other thread but stop trying to make everything into a personal attack

Maybe it was the dog handler with the cattle dog from the video you posted? lol

I thought this thread will grow and I was looking forward to the comments about the video that I posted, the negative and the positive. No takers?
Also I I have heard that the dog spoken about in the original post was a malinois.
