    Survival Dog

I was just asked this question and I wanted the opinions of other so don’t be shy but if the economy turned to sh&t and civilisation as we know it reverted to anarchy
What breed would you have by your side thru the trials and tribulation? I dunno how many of you have time to watch movies but think “I am legend –will simth “
My personal preference is a Belgium mal and im going to come out and admit Im bias
In their justification however there smaller thus requiring less food , easily trainable to complete a variety of task , ability to air scent easily , high level of endurance , keenness to work , ability to do bite work for protection , dual layer coat perfect for all climates , very surefooted , easy to lift over obstacles etc
Just my perspective but then again you can get something like a mastiff or a rottie more power?

I think you watch to many movies. lol. Then again so do I.Its not the first time I have seen the question asked on a dog board.Me persoanlly I would take a Presa a male of no more than 90 to 100 pounds.Something that is strong, agile, can hunt and easily stop a man but at the end of the day if the scenario ever happens you will take what you can get and what has survived.Forget about breed and worry about ability becuase the breed matters little. The first dog I ever owned by myself when I was 16 is still probably one of the best dogs I have ever had and she was a mongrel I bought off some indigenous people for a carton of beer. The best $15 I ever spent.
She grew to be about 65 pounds soaking wet and physically resembled a pitbull but this was when they were rare and expensive and hadnt been crossed with everything so she didnt have any in her.I beleive she was staffy/heeler/roodog or something like that.Smartest dog I have ever had or seen. She could escape from anything, climb vertially up tress like a cat, hunt anything that moved and was a great guard dog and she was just another mongrel.

what do you mean by turned to poop and went to anarchy ... as in I am Legend? Zombie Apocalypse style ala Walking Dead series? Zombieland? Nuclear winter? Natural Disasters? majory disease wipe outs?

depends on the situation. Whatever the dog it needs to be trained before the shit hits the fan, no ones got time for a sick or unproven dog when you're out to survive. Oh and strong enough to carry its own bug out bag if you intend on soloing considering you will not need to be carting days worth of provisions for the dog either.

I'd probably take a lovely little Tibetan Spaniel.. Don't eat much..great company, easy to hide when danger is around.. Break into an Army Barracks get as much Firepower as I could get and hope for the best

No dog is going to help you in such a fantasy

lol Mark, I was going to type something similar but thought I would wait and see a few more replies. I would not want to have the worry of looking after a dog in such a time.
