Does n’t the Australian AF have K9 teams in Afghanistan? Or are they just there for their Airbases?

I do not know the exact figures but around 50% of our MWD lives at home with there handler.

Yup Victoria Police regularly ask for male rottweilers and german shepherds for police work. They do have their own kennel its under the Vicpol prefix, although I dont know the success rate for it.

The RAAF and prisons will use Malinois. There are good dogs here I think we just lack the experience to utilise them to their full potential plus its left to private people to pay the big money to import dogs, semen and breed the pups. There are only so many that have that money for dogs that probably will not get you that great a return and not sell so well.

ETA I dont know why a working Malinois could not live at home with the handler. I somehow have stayed sane with 2 working line bitches in the house, we have guests, parties etc and they're not any trouble. Its all in the training and socialisation.

Same in WA.They get dogs gifted to them thats why there is a high failure rate becuase most arent bred for work. They just work on the principle if they get enough it doesnt matter how many fail if threy get a few workers they cost them nothing as they were for free.Thats why they work to a budget."Down to a price not up to a standard"
