These units may form part of the licensing requirements for persons engaged in the management of guard dogs in those states and territories where these are regulated activities. Competency requires legal and operational knowledge applicable to relevant sectors of the security industry. The knowledge and skills described in these units are to be applied within relevant legislative and organisational guidelines

These units are applicable to the following persons:  

Security Officers wanting to be licensed as a Security Dog Handler

Dog handlers who wish to refresh their knowledge and learn more skills

Dog enthusiasts that wish to learn how to safely handle and manage a working security dog

CPPSEC3010A – Manage Dogs for Security Functions

This unit of competency specified the outcomes required to train and care for dogs used for security assignments. It requires the ability to select dogs based on breed drives and behaviours, implement appropriate training methods, and maintain the health and welfare requirements of the dog. This unit of competency has application in the security industry in those roles the management of guard dogs.

CPPSEC3011A – Handle Dogs for Security Patrol

This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to handle and maintain dogs used for security assignments. It includes both the skills required to handle security dogs as well as the knowledge of where, when and how these skills are used. This unit of competency has application in the security industry in those roles the handling of guard dogs.

These units are delivered by Industry Professionals that are committed to delivering a high quality course to ensure best practice methods for Security Dog Handlers will present the workshop for the two above listed Units of Competency.
