Just a quick update about the Dutch Shepherds. We have imported three males and two females and all are from parents that have been used for working. We are expecting our next litter April/May 2009. Two boys from our first litter have been sold to WA and are doing well.

    Hi

If you are serious about working dutch shepherds you cannot go past this breeder Kampftrieb Working Dutch Shepherds

All his stock is imported and bred from the best producers in Holland and the KNPV, but I must stress these are true working dogs and very serious by nature.

    Thanks for that Ben,

though I have looked at their dogs but they are not registered, I know that shouldn't matter but it is something I'd like.
The way that I see it, there are only 2 breeders in Oz and if anyone knows others, would love to hear from you.

The only problem you have is that the Dutch Shepherd Dog is not a registered breed in Australia, just as it isnt int the USA. So even if the parents come into Oz with FCI pedigrees the pups will not be able to have pedigrees. So they will be as registered as the Unreg KNPV ones are.
Maybe one day they will get recognised here, but it is a long drawn out process. There isnt even a conformation judge who has ever judged one in this country. It wont happen anytime soon

I think its good that there are two different bloodlines here, as not everyone could handle the KNPV ones.
Choice is good. I have refered people to the FCI ones if I thought thats was better for them. I certainly dont want my pups being "boomerangs" because people just couldnt control them.
When Boy came into quarentine he destroyed everything he could get hold of. They could not correct him in any way. They rang me asking if they could sedate him for his stay, to which I said NO. They said they have never had a dog come through like him before.
But if people want a Dutchie they need to do their research, go and see the dogs, speak to people who have them, them decide what will fit your bill.

With the breed recognition we are in the process and have sent all the correct paper work to the canine control council. I believe it is a process that we have taken and if all goes well we should have them recognised soon. I have not see the KNPV Dutch Shepherds therefore I will not comment but I know what our dogs are like and I welcome any person to have a look. We had the dogs tested several times by the Air force in QLD and they could not break the dogs (you can believe me or not when I say they have tested them in all conditions that were available to them) Not only that, there were Mal breeders that after they have seen our dogs said that they would like a Dutch Shepherds. I personally do not want anything harder character wise than the current dog that I have. I had many GSD over the years and only couple were of any substance. One of the GSD was described as a man stoper by Butch and he was nothing in comparison to my Dutch Shepherds. So people can comment about the FCI Dutch dogs however until you see a dog for yourself in action I do not believe that your opinion matters much. One thing that I can easily say that they are fantastic breed and as more people get a chance to own one they will see for themselves what a FCI Dutch dog really is

    Hi Ena

Yes unfortunately they are unregistered, but after reading the previous posts, so are the offspring from the other breeders as if they are not yet a recognised breed they cannot be FCI registered (anyone correct me if I am wrong). I am not getting into a debate over unreg or FCI types, but like what others have said already go check out the dogs in person and then you can make an informed decision, you may like FCI tye dutchie or you may like unreg dogs, that is purely a matter of personal taste, I too know what the breeder Kampftrieb Working Dutch Shepherds has in his kennel, and I can reccomend them having seen them work and yes I have only seen FCI types in videos and spoken to people who have worked them ( of which I will not discloseso that I do not breach confidentiality) and I too will not comment as I have not seen them in person or taken them in the suit myself but I have seen the unreg and if it is a serious working dog you are after I can reccomend them.
