it all depends on how they get alone togeather

i my self belive in using pens and bringing out the dog when wanted and when i am in the yard il let them all out supervised to have a run together
the reason i do it is so when they are in the runs they relax or sleep so when you get them out they are ready for work
were as when they are all free to run in the yard they get to do what they want play or sleep in the case of 2 dog most of the time playing

but in saying that i have seen dogs run in a pack full time and being fine with no problems and still work just as well

so it all depends on what works for you

if there is any dog agro in one of the dog to the point they cant run togeather i would be looking at rehoming the dog a situation i have lernt the hard way ive never had a fight but ive all ways had to watch like a hawk and
it make you edgy when the dogs out all the time wich is no way for you to enjoy your dogs
