Training in drive: Food or toy?

I am wanting to train my new pup in drive.
I have a 2 yr old GSD from working line and was my first dog trained using these methods.
Pohm is a 3 month old Rottie x Douge de Bordeaux. (a accidental litter from a Bordeaux breeder, with a rottie neighbour)
So far, i have not started training formally. Just Triangle of temptation to teach sit, look, wait, to be tied out and the release.

My GSD has taught her: retrieve, recall, house trained her, and where to lay that has the most shade, how to swim and how to 'speak' on command. She mimics him well as is a keen student clearly. He is a training variable to be reconned with i suspect. But i train them separately.

Pohm currently has equal drives in prey, food and pack. What would people here recommend for her training? She is more 'lit up', more consistently for her ball but will this be harder for me to control her in?
I am a novice trainer. I do this for fun a my dogs quality of life.

Pohm is an unusual working dog, as she comes with me to work, as a counsellor and group facilitator. She's very good at offering a shoulder to cry on for my clients who are won over by her rapidly. Is very docile and quiet natured when working, untill....... the yellow ball comes out! Then she's super dog. I am interested in animal assisted therapy, and Pohm suits this work perfectly.

I would be grateful for any suggestions and will post her progress and response to suggestions.

    Thankyou you in advance
    Bernie

Food first for teaching using different value foods if the dog is having problems with things or not motivated. Then i would go to the ball once you have taught the exercise for more speed.
