Pressure Point Collar (aka "pinch" collar) - Victoria law

Hi ..... you may well already be aware that I am presently campaigning to change Victoria's current regulation which bans the use of the "Pressure Point Collar" (PPCollar). I have been working on this project for quite a number of months now and its contents are certainly accumulating and evolving to something that I consider to be a force to be reckoned with.

The submission to Government that I am preparing is well underway and includes individual submissions by those (professional trainers; pet-dog owners; and Vets) who have knowledge and experience of the PPCollar and its benefits to training and behaviour modification and in many instances, the dog's welfare overall.

I still welcome submissions by any and all who see fit to provide them. These weigh more heavily in support of the main submission than most else. For anyone who would like to be a part of what I hope to see as a change in our Victorian regulation (regardless of which State you reside in), please email your submission to me at judi@ProK9.com.au.

In the meantime - but not intended to be a substitute for submission contribution, I've also arranged for a Petition to be included in the main submission to Government. I've only just been able to publish it. The Petition comprises of two form types :

One for those who reside in Victoria, Australia.
And another for those who do not.

Due to the Victorian Government policy in acceptance of submissions to the Legislative Assembly, I've had to split the two categories.

I've created a 'blog space' where people may go or be referred to. It is there in the second post that each of the Petition forms (as required) are linked and can be printed off. I'd appreciate it if you would not only contribute by completing and signing the petition form relevant to you, but also if you would inform others who would hold an interest in this valuable training tool and who might see fit to do the same.

Even just one signature (with name and address included) to each Petition form will help. But of course there is plenty of room if you are in touch with others who would also like to sign it.

You'll need to read the "Petition Instructions" (2nd post in the 'Dog Laws Blog Space') and this also gives you the address to which the Petition form needs to be forwarded to (by snail mail - original signatures are required).

You may have already supplied an individual submission (in which case, thank you ), but you are also entitled to sign the Petition. They are not mutually exclusive.

The blog space addy is :

    http://doglaws.blogspot.com/

Please visit there. I look forward to being inundated with signed and completed petition forms in the coming few weeks.

    Thanks for asking Mark.

Well, I've done almost all I can do. The "main" submission (25 pages) is in with someone else who is applying a fresh set of eyes for scrutiny and editing.

The petition is "out there" (as per post above) but I've received nothing at this stage. This is a good part up to everyone else to respond.

I have a reasonable number of submissions ranging from the general pet dog owner through to trainers, but the submission can always do with more. Even just one more is a valuable addition. Again, this part is up to everyone else to respond.

I'm close to beginning work on a DVD - this will take many hours and a bit of running back and forward to my computer person (because I don't have the skill to compile as needs be).

My visit to the Minister will be coming up soon. Hopefully, I'll have the responses I need from people regarding petition as well as more submissions before then. It is fast coming to a close in that it can't wait forever and I can only now work with what the people who would like to see PPCollars allowed to be used in Victoria, agree to give me. So much is up to them ..... I'm only the instrument to take and present it to Government.

By the time I get to see the Minister it will be about 1 year since I've been doggedly working on this. I can't believe how the time has passed so quickly!

    Erny

    Hi

Sorry - this is just another monotonous reminder to what I'm doing and that I am presently seeking a meeting with the Minister for June. I will be spending April putting together the DVD I spoke about in my earlier message ...... there are hours and hours of work to be done on formatting etc. etc. so trying to fit this in between my other work is going to be onorous. May sees me pre-occupied with another venture I'm involved in and I want to reserve the remaining time in May to photo-copy, collate and otherwise put the finishing polish on the submission to Government so that it is ready and rearing to go.

What I'm hoping for is that others will help me keep the motivation wheel turning and the network tentacles seeking by getting the link/s to the petition/s I've organised out to as many people as is possible. The more signatures added the better.

    Remember
    - you can sign the petition even though you might have made a submission.
    - even just one signature to the page is fine - just because you download doesn't mean you have to run around getting lots of other signatures to fill it up. I'd hate for anyone to not sign the petition just because they thought one signature would not be welcome or would be frowned at. Not at all! Every single one will be welcomed.
    - to sign the petition appropriate to your residency. There is one petition for Victorian residents. Another for others outside of Victoria. Please make sure the correct one is used.

For your ease the link to the blogspot in which you will find the petition links is doglaws.blogspot.com

I really look forward to hearing from you, if only via your petition. Every little bit WILL help .... immensely. And this is your last chance to make your effort to the cause.

    Thanks again in advance.

    Hey Erny,

Just wondering where we are with getting the legal use of Pinch collars back into Victoria? Did you meet with the minister, if so how did it go? When will we have a likely outcome?

    Steve
