Vet hasn't called yet so I assume he is calling in the morning.

2 hrs ago, whining stopped. Then about 15 minutes ago, whining started again. It's really odd.

I did suspect a paralysis tick, but I cant find one on him and given it started last night I imagine I'd have noticed.

Any other vet that you can call or call your vet back - they may have forgotten all about you. You could ask them if you can give him some aspro clear until they can see him if it is going to be another day.

If any of mine are lame I don't go to the vet until the physio man has seen them first - I have more faith in their opinions than a vet now if my dogs pull up sore or injured.

ETA: 1 - 2 ESTER C tabs morning and night will also help.

I could probably have called more but he is aggressive to vets, and the ones I did call gave me a straight out "no".

I'll try some Ester C tomorrow, I have some somewhere. He has to be sedated to see a vet so I am unsure how a physio would go?

Fair enough - may be worth your while getting some sedation tablets from the vet and see if you can find a physio person to go over him. He would benefit from physio since your doing a fair amount of activities with him. Hopefully he will get used to it which may prevent him from further injuries - or at least help him get over them a bit easier.

Mine all get used to having physio from a young age so they will accept it when ever they need it (or not). The difference manipulation can make for us is unbelievable so I would imagine the dogs would also feel it too.

Good luck.

Will the vet do physio on him while he is sedated?

He's actually improved a ton in the past 5hrs, he did a poo and now is much happier. I did a yard search, I did poopie duty 3 days ago and there was no Montu poo out there so perhaps he had a constipation issue? Doesn't explain his sore front paws though - still going to a vet though as I am still curious.

My old vet offered my sedation tablets if I needed him so I'll see if the new vet will.

I like the idea of a physio - I might get my next dogs used to it from a young age. Montu should accept a physio as with the vet it is a combination of what the vet is wearing, the location and how they touch him. If the vet is in casual clothes, outside, petting him he is fine. As soon as he is inside he is aggressive. As soon as they "inspect" he gets aggressive and if they're in normal vet clothes (white ones) he gets moody (but not aggressive). So a physio might be fine, I'll look into it as he is very injury prone as he LOVES jumping into prey toys and tugs - even if it's not high enough to need a jump he'll still leap into it :S

Probably can do it sedated, I mean, it's not like Monts could protest about it :P

Kk.

Update!

Had a friend over the other night and she noticed Montu wasn't doing a poo - he was trying but couldn't push one out. Low and behold when I inspect the lawn there has been no poo from him since I did poopie duty!

Rang the vet with updated symptom list (pain in the rear, not pooping) and we treated him for constipation. I thought there might be something stuck in him (such as a toy) but the vet said he'd be in far more pain and throwing up and what not. Anyway, gave him some oil and he has cheered up and has his energy back, no more whining. Oil was given last night and another dose this morning.

Vet said if the symptoms return to come in asap.

Ohhh, I suspect his front paws was just a coincidence.

That's good to hear montu is on the mend

Just do what you're doing but keep an extra eye on his front paws in case....

Cheers
Amy

Yeah, I've been keeping him quiet. Lots of crate time and outside ALONE time. Also done no training at all with him since.

The redness has gone down but it's still evident. He is allergic to grass seeds so that might be it.
