Thread: Ask the show dog breeders

It has been done to literally death over there, Adam....If you were to try that, likely you would be called a "troll" and removed after the many replies of going around in circles and "debate"...Alternatively, you may just get ignored because many will not enter such threads due to past conflict about the subject content....

From the Rott and the Sheppy folks you will be told of Australia's version of each respective breed club's Breed Survey test etc.... basically gun shots and a helper, comes no more then 3 metres distance to the dog...

....and never forget the most important reason temperament testing is not done for us in good old Vic....it is illegal now......so they have an excuse...sorry i mean reason.

So a search for a topic done by me - MonElite - it was about modern GSD - more the structure, but it was bigger then Ben Hur topic.

it all gets shut down under the umbrella of antagonism. Many members here are also dogzonline members and we know what goes on there. THe show GSD people over there dont like their dogs and breeding questioned, the walls come up and the threads dissapear.

I remember that topic Mon, it was like a merry go round. And yet we still didnt have our questions answered really did we.

Tooo many do gooders hijack threads over there... I wouldn't waste my breathe starting a thread on DOL.. I guarantee it will lead to nowhere, except getting it shut down... We need action not arguments in forums... Its ALL been done before.. Afirmative action is what is required, and the only way of (possibly) getting all of this eventually over turned and commonsense to prevail.

I agree the thread would be closed and deleted very quickly with no real benefit gained.

It was one thread and i got no warning and no debate just a ban, so i don't know what happens there, but i can imagine is it like entering the lion's den if you would start such a topick

Entering a lions den would be considered a luxury compared to the amount of overly emotive responses and backstage bitch sessions that would ensue if such a thread would be started.

A lot of the responses to similar threads in the past have been along the lines of: I believe my dogs still hold the correct temperament as 20 years ago I bred a litter of German Shepherds and one got sold to "insert name of government department" and the other day one of my dogs barked at someone from behind a fence so clearly the working ability and temperament has not been bred out of my dogs.

Providing a member follows the rules and doesnt attack anyone personally the thread will stay. My thread got to some insane number of pages and its still there, but yup with no answer to my question.

I think that controvercail threads do serve a purpose, Those people that are new to the forums read them and can make up thier own mind on the subject. "Us oldies" have seen them all time and time again but DOL forum grows each and every day. When I joined there were aprox 10 000 members I think its nearly 30 000 now.

so to those that have been on that forum its same old story, yet to a newby it miht be usefull info.

ahhh jeff ... and dont remember the pure gold of : if a dog conforms to the ANKC standard it will be able to any function for which the breed was intended
