i have all ways wanted Giant schnauzers but the only ones i found are show or pet
i did some asking around a while ago
and was told about some at sydney sch club but wasnt confirm

the question is are there any and how good are they

Nath l dont know of any working here, but l have indeed seen some nice Schnauzers overseas, some working lines with cleaner coats also.
Hope someone knows of some working here, another breed in that style that produces some nice serious dogs is the Black Russian Terrrier. Have encountered a few very good ones of those.

I have some Russian friends that just arrived into Aus. They are going to import some working line Russian Terriers.. She is a vet and is going to import 2 females to hopefully start a breeding program here.

If anyone know's of genuine working Russian Terriers I would be interested in getting the contact details of the breeder, the real working Russian Terrier's are said to be extreme in every way, so if anyone knows of any, your help is much appreciated

Yes have spoken to Rod a fair bit, very nice man.The breeders in Australia are all show type breeders. He selected for a user friendly show type to bring in, but does know the Black Russian Terrier well. He has been associated with security and working dogs so it would not surprise if he placed a dog or two in that outlet. Some specimens will show some of what the Russians selected for , but the full on ones would not be for general public . They had some temperament and health troubles in the US whilst trying to water them down for the show crowd. lntimidating dog when in full flight , l am not a hairy dog person, but the BRT is on my list of dogs to try. Ben keep us updated if you find any good sites.

I remember a number of years ago someone in Qld imported some Giants from Russia or around that area. They advertised the litter they imported in all major newspapers. I remember seeing the ad in SA.
I also thought that Dott Sweney in Qld also imported or had Black Russian Terriers. I remember seeing them talk about them on Leerburgs forum. They were using them as security dogs in PNG.
