To be honest Adam, I don't know why you don't title your dogs, they are close, especially the bitch with the BH???. Even in security where Schutzhund titles have little relevence in real work, it does project the overall temperament of the dog from a breeding perspective and weeds out unstable temperaments, over sharpness and demonstrates genetic trainability. As I mentioned in another thread, a good biter doesn't determine sound overall balance of temperament and a dog that can pass a Schutzhund test and work for real is what IMHO makes real good dog that stands above the rest.

    Cheers

I have tried sch and I am of the opinion that this sport through the rigorous training is to restricting for my dogs.
I don't like the sch tracking (it is not real tracking) and if any one knows "real tracking", then sch tracking is a joke.

I have seen and used the sch training methods and for my business (Security ) they limit my dog's capabilities.
So sorry Nev but I want be doing any sch training any time soon.
I have nothing against the general public doing the sport, If fact i would encourage any one who buys our dogs to do any sport Sch, KNPV, NVBK, whatever.

I on the other hand want to train my dog to its full potential as a "service dog", and not just a sport dog earning points. ( this is just because I am job orientated). If I was NOT involved in the security industry, I would probably train for a sport.

Just one more word. Nev My dogs HAVE to have stable temperament, as my job requires me and my dog to interact in public on a daily basis.
Non of my dogs need a muzzle in public. at the doggy park. when there are cats running around. We walk in crowded places, with kids and adults alike.

At socialization period for example I took Shatan to Surface ( 5000) people walking around busking, singing, dancing, Kids, walking, running. Adults, walking. peole wanting to pet the pup.

If he had a sharpness issue or temperament problem it would show itself between then and now. I really don't need a title to tell me what I already know.

But thanks for your suggestion and for seeing that they have what it takes.

I understand where you are coming from Adam, but I had the understanding from speaking with K9 security officers although in a SA with perhaps different laws to yours, but I didn't believe they could use the dog defensively other than in a handler attack. You can't deploy a security dog in SA and if they bite someone even in a handler attack, the officer has to prove an attack occurred to justify the bite which essentially is quite restrictive as to what the dog can be used for from a legal perspective???. I guess it's why in SA anyway, there are plenty of security officers taking their pet GSD or Rotty for an evening stroll!!!.

A security dog working under SA law, there is no way that Schutzhund trialling would effect the dog's ability to defend the handler and neither would it be difficult to train a Schutzhund titled dog to work in personal protection which is basically the extent apart from a deterrent factor, is what the dog can do which isn't a lot really in terms of extraction of the dog's ultimate ability???.

What can you use the dogs for Adam I am interested to know???, is there different laws or licences where a dog can be used in a more civil role in security perhaps, just interested to learn the extent of their use, if it's something that can be shared publically here of course???.

    Cheers

All i can say is that although i respect all dog sports sch is not for me at this stage.
    Call it personal preference.

I wasn't actually referring to Schutzhund sporting competitions, it's the title I am talking about attached to the dog's kennel name that the ANKC are supposed to recognise if they played the game???.
