    Very rough calculations…
Security Dog Handlers I have worked their dogs approximately a minimum of 20 per week at min 2 bites per session over the past 5 years which = 10400 bites
Recruit, export dogs and service dogs in training I have a worked on average 10 per day at minimum 2 bites each over the past 5 years = 26000 bites
That equals 36400 bites I have received on equipment over 5 years out of my 15 years involvement with dogs and a very rough minimum as dog assessments, IPO training, and all extras have not been included.
Roughly 36000 bites which have included GSD, Malinois, Rottwieler, Doberman, Dutch shepherds, Mastiffs, and cross breeds thereof, and I can’t answer the question of which breed has more of the better. I have seen such a mixture of both good and poor pedigree working dogs, but have worked many awesome dogs that have been unpapered, even cross breed or freak show lines.
With all of these bites has come other aspects of training which includes at least obedience and environmental conditioning
I call a top working dog one that passes many of the varied working environments such as obedience, tracking, man work, building search, article search and agility at least.
I don’t think anyone can answer the question what is best !!! Lets just call good dogs, good dogs and respect the handlers for their achievements.

    Nice post Jamie,

It's easy to become lost in sheer bitework performance where many dogs good at nailing the bad guy are are often not good at getting to that point to make a well rounded working package. Another reason I like Schutzhund as the working platform to see obedience, handler focus, agility, how the dog handles distractions, how confident the dog is etc etc, I am not talking high point scoring from a competition perspective, I am talking a general overview of the whole animal's working attitude and trait display. Obviously training has a lot to do with creating a rounded package, but often a dog extreme in bitework is not necessarily a good dog overall and personally I like to see more boxes ticked to determine a dog's true value.

    Cheers

[=adam VIPSS;16169][=Neville Patterson;16163][=Robert Santori;16162]The problem is every one is to macho to have or work a bitch , hence there are no bitches out there, they all want the big trophy looking male.
I think that is the problem.
I work all my bitches, I only take bitches to work.[/]

    Hi Rob,

If I bred dogs, I don't think I would own a male, probably wouldn't have time train and work one and would concentrate on a bitch which IMHO is 60% of the breeding. I can never understand in showline GSD's where titled imports are plentiful why no one imports a titled bitch???. They run an imported male over local bitch lines that haven't done a days work in 10 generations WTF!!!.

    Cheers

    Hi Nev

That is not entirely correct. As rob I to work my bitch, and you will be happy to know that we are in process of importing not one but two very good working bitches from Europe next year.

Both will be imported, in pup to a very prominent male.
These dogs have been mated already with fantastic results. So this is a repeated mating, and we know what to expect.

The two bitches once they whelp the pups will also be put to work. (No free lunches here) I mean we breed WORKING DOGS, so they should be worked. And if they cant cut it obviously they are not good enough to breed from.

    Hi Adam,

I wish you luck with your importing endeavours, nice work, I commend you on that.

    Cheers

If the Dutchies were not one of my Dutrch shepherds then they were not Dutch Shepherds. Might have to let you have a bite with one of mine so you can officially put it on your list.

    Impressive numbers though
