I have decided to edit this post.
The trainer concerned rang me tonight and we had a lengthy discussion about this dog, the owners, and also the training carried out. I should have contacted this trainer first and got both sides of the story before posting on here. Don't get me wrong, this dog is a very dangerous dog, and is definately in the wrong hands.
Anyone considering purchasing breeds such as this should be aware of what these dogs are capable of in the wrong hands. Breeders should also be very aware of who they are selling working line dogs too, especially dogs with the genetics this dog has. This dog should never have been sold to inexperienced people. I saw this dog around 6 months ago. Back then this dog was a very social dog, that I did spend time with. To see this dog go from being so social to what I saw and experienced today was a big shock to me. I feel now that the information they pased on to me, was possibly not the entire story. So to stop any conjecture on who the trainer could be, I have removed all text that will point to a certain direction.. I have received conflicting information from both parties about this dog. However after speaking with the trainer that went out to them, I now have a better understanding of this situation.
Original post kept:
Last week the dogs owners mother called me and said she was very worried about this dogs attitude now. I sugested she book some obedience lessons with me.
Anyhow we booked the first obedience lesson today at 10am. We met at a local park. When the owners mother arrived, I walked over to her car and said hello. We both walked to the back of the car where the Mal was sitting inside. She opened the door.. I noticed the Mal was a little insecure, but no signs of aggression. The owner took the dogs lead and the dog jumped out and stood beside her. I was no more then half a metre from the dog, and he looked looked calm, just a little unsure of the strange environment. As the owner tried to close the door of the car, I said I'll hold the lead for you. As she went to pass the lead to me, and I reached across to grab it, the Mal launched itself and latched onto my right arm. The owner immediately pulled back on the lead and pulled the dog off.. She dragged the dog back into the car, as she did the dog spun around and bit her on the arm. Her bite was not bad, just a surface wound that wasn't deep. I mmediately removed my jumper and saw the results of my bite... damn it was painful. I rushed straight to the Drs and they sent me straight to hospital, fearing extensive damage to my arm.
The photos below are a result of this bite... 6 inner stitches and 9 outer stitches. The Dr said I was so very lucky.. during the repair work he showed me the exposed major vein and said I was lucky it wasn't ruptured, and that there was no muscle damage.
text removed
This dog had become a very insecure dog, who originally when I first had contact with this dog was a very social and outgoing dog. I put all this insecurity down to lack of obedience training, and the inexperience of the dogs owner.
Apologies if this isn't written to well..just in a little pain..so not concentrating properly

Wish you a speedy recovery.
As stated obedience is the key, not only do you gain control but you enrich your relationship between you and the dog.
Lucky we got the transfer of the site over and done with then. You wouild have been a mess to do it now.

Hi Mark ,
very sorry to hear about your ordeal ,
Jen and i wish you a speedy recovery also .
I also came across a couple 18 months ago exact same scenario, lucky I got to it, before anyone was hurt.
This poor couple were going along to a breeder and just doing bite work he should have known better. There was no ob. The dog started to turn on the owners ,I suggested they stop the bite work and they came to me for ob and control , and now they are very happy.
But he was also a time bomb waiting to explode.
I'm speechless.
Mark I wish you a speedy recovery.
