    Hi Nathan

You should reward him on his last muzzle charge by removing the muzzle and giving him the bite reward straightaway, not leaving it until later, if I've understood your description correctly. It should be a continuous process....the muzzle charges, and straightaway remove the muzzle and give him the bite. Needless to say on each muzzle attack you are praising the dog for his good work.

    Hi Nathan

I agree with Peter, he should be rewarded with a bite straight after the muzzle work, so as that he can relieve frustration and stress from the work that he is doing, it is also important that with muzzle work the dog should be over praised for the hard hits and your helper should reinforce such behaviour, for example after a hard hit the helper could fall to the grond and let the dog dominate the helper, or make noises of pain and weakness so that the dog grows in confidence each time.

A point to remember is that muzzle work can be particularly hard on a dog physically and therefore will tire more quickly

    Regards Ben

I agree 100% with the above post, muzzle training is extremely frustrating for the dog and he needs to be able to release that frustration with a bite straight away.

Yep I also agree with all the posts..Muzzle work can create stress in most dogs, and needs to be releaved as soon as possible with a bite and a win.

Dogs should never leave a training session stressed.
