    Books & DVDs on foundations

Are there any decent books or dvd's on training the foundations of agility?

Thinking of teaching both my Husky and GSD agility (for fun).

Don't recommend an agility club, my local one is terrible and the longer I spend there the dumber I get.

    Hey Midol,

My friends back in NSW from my old club that are into agility use this website, they often have me make a trip to the big smoke to pick up stuff for them.

The other one i would recommend is the ADAA (Agility Dog Association of Australia).
Heaps of useful stuff on there.

    Enjoy.

One DVD that I have found really useful is Susan Garrett's Success With One Jump.

This shows you lots of useful exercises you can do with one or no jumps and helps with obstacle focus, handling for a variety of manouvres including front and rear crosses, serpentines and threadles.

Greg Derrett also has a foundation work DVD that is supposed to be good though I haven't watched it yet.

Depending on how you want to teach weaving, there are several good DVDs out on that as well. Susan Garrett has her new 2 x 2 method out now ( I haven't used this method yet - I suggest you be well rehearsed in shaping if you try it! though it looks good and I may try with next dog).

There is also Dream Weaves by Ann Croft.

Let me know if there is anything specific you want info on lol

    Lmao, thanks guys!

Kavik, for now I think I have enough stuff to try out :P Though once I start I'll have questions, don't you worry

Montus training, Gizmos training, agility stuff. I'm going to be busy Least I now run Gizmo on the bike (motor) so I save myself 20 minutes each day.

Youtube is also very helpful. Lots of people put training videos up there, so if you see a method and want to find out more about it, or see how other people are going with it, or want to see methods on how to teach a piece of equipment, a search usually brings up a lot.

    Lots of videos on:

    Training the seesaw (various methods)
    Training weaves (various methods)
    Front and rear crosses
    Serpentines and threadles
Running contacts on A-Frame and Dogwalk
Stopped contacts (2o2o) on A-Frame and Dogwalk
